From Rocky Mount, NC to Hollywood

Rocky Mount, NC native Mary Elizabeth Winstead is taking it all in as the new "it" girl as she plays the role of Ramona in the new film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The cartoonish comic book based film also stars the nerdy but adorable sexy Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim.

Winstead, 25, admits that “it’s a bit daunting to step into the shoes of a character described as ‘aloof, mysterious and beautiful,’ a character who already has a lot of fans thanks to the [Bryan Lee O’Malley comic] books. A lot of people have very specific ideas in their heads about what she should be like.

The cute purple haired gothy chic character Ramona, Winstead says, “is not someone who’s trying to be attractive. She just is. She’s a sad girl who has a troubled past and is this wounded person who is trying to keep this cold exterior. I just had to hope there was something alluring to that.”

Winstead just wrapped up shooting on The Thing about the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between a graduate student and a scientist.
